The Bel Boutique Fall Look Guide (Part One)

o Peplums

Remember those pictures of the skirts and dresses your mother rocked in the 80s…the ones that look like she had an elegant umbrella around her waist? Well ladies, the peplum has made a comeback! This visually interesting cut makes the wearers hips appear slightly wider than natural to give an incredible nipped waistline. Try out this look at your next cocktail party; pair the frock with a great pair of glitzy earrings and a fun set of pumps. For a more casual yet professional look, wear an unbuttoned cardigan, long yet simple necklace, and a comfy pair of shoes with your super chic work dress.

o Polka Dots

If you are seeing spots…don’t be concerned…it is just a flurry of designers depending on a classic print. Anywhere from Minnie Mouse inspired dots to a delicate, subtle print are popping up on garments at all price points. The wonderful thing about these speckles is that they can be as rebellious or as conservative as you prefer. Consider adding a burst of your favorite color in the form of a scarf or belt.

o Plaids

Ttiimmbbeerr! Just Kidding. Gone are the days of strictly ‘lumberjack plaids’. The modern versions of this checked fabric consist of every imaginable color, fabric, or silhouette. For a classic look try tucking your blouse into a great pair of dark-rinse jeans with worn leather boots. Don’t be afraid to don a patterned scarf to add a bit of contrast…after all you do deserve to stand out!

o Lace

Don’t ever underestimate the major style points of lace. This textile can be sexy, funky, modest, or mysterious. For the fall 2011 season, designers are incorporating this awesome fabric into fashions everywhere. If you aren’t totally sold on the lace trend, try a subtle detail like a lace scarf tied into a bow around the handle of your go-to handbag. Looking for something more daring? Take a page out of the Valentino handbook and mix two colors of lace into one ensemble.

Fashion Show and Valentine’s Day!

After a very fun and busy holiday season, we are able to finally sit down for a minute and catch up on our blog! We loved seeing all of our customers and we hope you’re enjoying your fabulous gifts from Bel Boutique!

Today marks the beginning of February and we already have some exciting things lined up. Not only does this mean Valentine’s Day (every girls’ favorite holiday) is around the corner, but we are also participating in the 8th Annual Go Red for Women Luncheon & Fashion show put on by the American Heart Association. This Friday, February 4th, we will be sporting some of our newest dresses and products on the runway by brands like Max and Cleo, BB Dakota, Nina Shoes, and Pandora jewelry.

This is a great way for women to get together, share stories, give advice about health, diet and exercise plans that really work, and just eating healthier in general. Heart disease is the number one killer of women, and can be prevented just by taking the right steps. What better way to get informed than talking over lunch with other women and getting your fashion fix all in one?

Saturday, October 2nd a British Car show will be coming to downtown Dover to shows their sporty rides! To honor them, we have decided to base our 1st Friday theme around them! We are having a “Hat’s Off to the Brits Tea Party and offering 20% OFF all hats for that day!
